Vancouver Island Premium Dryland Hay & Grazing Mix
Premium Dryland is blended for Vancouver Island low rainfall/well-drained fields. A high producing mix with top varieties and nitrogen-fixing clovers. A highly palatable hay and grazing seed mix suited to V. I’s variable soil conditions. Grass varieties are endophyte-free.

Vancouver Island Horse & Sheep Pasture Mix
A pasture blend designed for variable soil conditions, good regrowth, and grazing tolerance. A seed mix with a high seed population by weight-reducing suggested rate per acre. Pasture stands are susceptible to overgrazing damage, particularly in the first year. Grass varieties are endophyte-free.

Vancouver Island Premium Tall Fescue Mix
A Top Shelf original seed blend designed specifically for variable Vancouver Island soil types with lower soil fertility management. Introducing Endurance Orchardgrass and Fojtan Festulolium. Once established this grass blend is expected to be a robust, long-lived grass stand, excellent for silage and hay crops. Fescue varieties are endophyte-free.

Crop Covers
Fall Rye
Fall Rye is best known for its ability to provide a cover crop that prevents erosion while also providing good weed suppression. It is very cold tolerant and is the hardiest and most disease resistant of the winter cereals. 2-4lb per 1000 sq ft seeding rate. Lowest feed quality, but extremely winter hardy. Mainly used for low-cost cover crops. Disc up early in spring. Seed by October 30th at 50-110lb/acre.

Austrian Winter Pea
Cool-season, an annual legume with good, nitrogen-fixing capabilities. Austrian winter peas have been well adapted to coastal BC conditions. Austrian winter pea is a low-growing, viny legume that has been shown to fix over 200lbs of nitrogen per acre per year under good conditions.
Italian Ryegrass
High-quality forage for harvest before April 30th. Seed by October 1-7th at 30-35lb/acre
Winter Wheat. Good feed quality, more winter hardy, and higher-yielding. Seed by October 5-15th at 120lb per acre.
